Web design in Salta.

Tourists travel through Salta for more than four days, but stay two nights at each hotel: they follow the circuit and book every stop separately, often at the last minute. A Salta hotel website has to win that booking.

A long trip, split into stops

The province measured stays of 4.1 nights in winter 2025 and 4.5 in summer 2026. But in the city of Salta's hotels the average stay was 1.7 to 2.2 nights, and in Cafayate 1.5 to 1.9, according to INDEC. Travellers build their route: city, Cafayate, Cachi, Quebrada de Humahuaca, and pick a place to stay at each.

Operators said in early 2026 that guests book later and later. Each stop is a new search on a phone. The winner is the place that shows up in that search with price, availability and a booking button, in the traveller's language.

Foreign guests come in spring, and they're European

In the city of Salta non-residents were 22% of hotel guests from January to November 2025. In July they were 14%; in November, almost 30%. July fills with Argentines; October and November bring foreigners.

In November 2025, 41% of foreign nights in the Northwest's hotels were Europeans, the largest group. In summer 2026, 44.4% of Salta's foreign visitors were European, and in winter 2025 the main markets were Brazil, Uruguay and France. A Spanish-only site leaves out much of the best-paying season.

  3. 03

    Cafayate and wine

Cafayate had 35.4% room occupancy from January to November 2025, peaking in February (Serenata, 45.8%) and July (47.9%), with a trough in June (23%). In English, Google suggests “cafayate wine hotel”, “winery hotel”, “vineyard hotels” and specific hotel names; in Spanish, hotels “with vineyards” and “with pool”.

Travellers are looking for the wine experience, not just a bed. A site that tells the story of the vineyard, the winery and the landscape with its own photos, in English, has the edge over a listing like all the others.

    What the website needs

    • Spanish, English, Portuguese and, if your guests call for it, French, with SEO in each language
    • Direct booking with live availability, for last-minute deciders
    • Pages for each part of the circuit: getting there from the city, Cafayate, Cachi
    • October and November offers for foreign markets
    • Your own photos of the place, the landscape and, in the Valleys, the vineyard
  5. 05

What Google shows, and what's missing

Among Google's suggestions for “hoteles Salta” and “hoteles Cafayate” is “booking”. On OpenStreetMap there are 450 places to stay in the province and only 55 have a website linked (12%); in Cafayate, 5 of 62; in Cachi, 2 of 22. It isn't a census, but it shows how much of Salta's lodging is found only through platforms.

  6. 06

    Short-term rentals in Salta

Salta has a Register of Temporary Lodgings for furnished homes rented for up to three months, with requirements updated in April 2025 (carbon monoxide detector, insurance, certificate on display for three years). For a licensed property, presenting it well on its own site is also a way to stand apart from informal supply.
