What free booking links are
Google shows a property's prices on its listing and in hotel searches. Since 2021, besides paid ads, there are free links: your site shows with its price and the click goes to your website.
According to Google's help, there's no fee to appear or for clicks, and nobody can buy a better spot in those links: they're ranked by what's useful to the user.
How you get in
Google receives prices through connectivity partners. In practice, if you use a booking engine, your provider is most likely already connected or can connect you. Google puts it plainly: check with them, and they can set up your booking links.
Before that, your Business Profile has to be verified, with the address and photos of the place.
| Step | What to do |
|---|---|
| 1 | Verify your Google Business Profile, with a real address and photos |
| 2 | Ask your booking engine whether it connects you to Google |
| 3 | Check that the price it sends matches the one on your website |
| 4 | Search for your property on Google and see whether your site shows next to the price |
The price has to match
Google compares the price it's sent with the one on the page the click lands on. If they don't match, it stops showing it. If your site loads slowly or the engine shows a different price, you lose the spot.
And if your website's price is the same as Booking's, guests have no reason to choose you. What you give on your site can be something besides price: breakfast, late arrival, the room they picked.
Why it matters
Many people have already decided where to stay when they search for the property's name on Google. If only platforms show up at that moment, that booking pays commission even though the guest chose you. With your link alongside, they have the option to book direct.
