Factura T.

Argentina's invoice for foreign tourists, without the VAT on lodging. The front desk issues it at check-out and ARCA authorizes it on the spot.

  • Authorized by ARCA with a CAE and QR code
  • In pesos or US dollars, in Spanish and English

The same arithmetic the system does. Below, a real Factura T authorized by ARCA in its test environment.

What it is

Foreign tourists don't pay VAT on their room in Argentina. The Factura T is the invoice that says so.

Argentina refunds the VAT on lodging to tourists who don't live in the country and pay with a card issued abroad or a transfer from abroad. The refund isn't a claim the guest files later: it's on the invoice. The Factura T shows the 21 % VAT and, on the same sheet, gives it back, so the guest pays the net.

On a US$ 121 rate, VAT is US$ 21 and the guest pays US$ 100. For a European or a Brazilian comparing prices, that's the difference between your website and the one next door.

It's ARCA's own document, with its code (195), its numbering and its electronic authorization, the CAE. One per stay, with the passport details, and only for the lodging: breakfast if it's in the rate, nothing else.

Two real Factura T, authorized by ARCA in its test environment.

Before offering it we ran it end to end with ARCA, in the homologation environment ARCA provides for testing software. They are real invoices, with their number, CAE and QR code, just without fiscal value. You can open them.

The first, in pesos, paid with a Visa. The second, in US dollars, paid by transfer from abroad: ARCA converted it at its rate of the day. In both, VAT is shown and refunded on the same invoice.

Guests and amounts are made up; the authorization, CAE and QR are the ones ARCA issued. The invoices carry the test notice.

How it's done

At check-out, from the front desk computer.

  1. Check-out

    The guest shows their passport

The front desk opens the form with the panel key and enters name, passport, country and city, dates and amount. The VAT maths is done for them.

  2. The payment

    Foreign card or transfer

The first six digits of the card, printed on the terminal slip. For a transfer, the account it came from. And one box: I saw the passport and the payment is from abroad.

  3. Seconds later

    ARCA authorizes it

The system requests the authorization from ARCA and comes back with the invoice number, the CAE and its expiry. If something doesn't add up, it says so in plain words before sending.

  4. To the guest

    One link, two languages

The invoice lives on a page with a QR code, in Spanish and English, to print or save as PDF. You send it by WhatsApp or email.

How easy it is

Seven details. The system knows the rest.

On ARCA's website, a Factura T is entered screen by screen: document type, point of sale, document kind and number, VAT condition, issuer-recipient relation, tourism code, rate, the VAT worked out by hand, the refund equal to the VAT, the payment method with its code, the card type. If one number doesn't match, ARCA rejects it and you start again.

Here the front desk enters what's in front of them: the passport, the dates, the amount and how they paid. The codes, the VAT maths, the numbering and the amounts ARCA checks to the cent are filled by the system, from the lists ARCA itself publishes.

Who can issue it

The conditions are ARCA's. We check them with you before starting.

  • Your property is a registered VAT taxpayer

Responsable inscripto, with lodging as a declared activity. A monotributista can't issue a Factura T: there's no VAT to refund.

  • The guest is a tourist who doesn't live in Argentina

Identified with a passport, a foreign ID card or a foreign national ID. An Argentine living abroad qualifies too, with the ID of the country they live in.

  • They pay with a card issued abroad or a transfer from abroad

Credit or debit. Cash, Mercado Pago or an Argentine card are outside the regime.

  • Lodging only

And breakfast if it's inside the rate. Excursions, dinners or transfers are invoiced separately, with normal VAT.

Decree 1043/2016 and General Resolution 3971. It is not the VAT refund on purchased goods, which is a different regime through a different channel.

What it takes care of

The things that go wrong by hand don't happen here.

  • 01

    The exact maths

VAT, refund and total to the cent, the way ARCA checks them. Enter the rate with VAT or what the guest pays: the invoice comes out the same.

  • 02

    One per stay

If someone enters the same booking twice, they get the invoice that already exists. No duplicates.

  • 03

    Numbering, always the next one

If another system at the hotel used a number, it takes the next. If two people issue at once, they don't collide.

  • 04

    If ARCA doesn't answer

It happens. Before the next one, the system asks ARCA whether the previous was authorized and recovers it with its CAE.

  • 05

    Stops before sending

Country Argentina, an ID with spaces, dates the wrong way round, a card without its six digits: it tells you in plain words, not codes.

  • 06

    ARCA's lists, up to date

Countries, ID types, payment methods and card types are read from ARCA, not from a table of ours. 296 countries.

  • 07

    Dollars at the official rate

In dollars, the invoice uses the exchange rate ARCA publishes that day and writes it on the invoice.

  • 08

    A link for the guest

The invoice in two languages, with QR and CAE, to print or save as PDF. And the history in the hotel's panel.

Why we recommend it

It's a 21 % difference for the guest, and nobody wants to do it by hand.

  • Guests ask for it

The guest from abroad knows, or the last hotel told them. If you don't issue it, they paid 21 % more at your place, and they compare.

  • Few hotels do it

In many properties the Factura T is done at the end of the day, after the guest has left, or not at all. With a form at check-out, it's done every time.

  • No accountant at the front desk

The hard part, the codes and the sums ARCA demands, is done by the system. Your accountant receives invoices done right.

  • For less than one night

US$ 9 a month, no cost per invoice, and it comes inside the five-program bundle. ARCA doesn't charge for the authorization.

The Factura T doesn't change your rate: it changes what the guest keeps. Having the front desk issue it, on the spot, is what makes it exist.

Booking engines

Works with the engine you already use.

  • HotelRunner
  • Cloudbeds
  • Todo Alojamiento
  • and yours

The Factura T doesn't depend on the engine: the front desk issues it with the guest's details at check-out. If your engine is already connected to Andes, through Vidriera or Reception 24h, the booking number travels with the invoice and prevents issuing the same stay twice.

Bookings and payments stay in your engine. The only change is that the invoice to the foreign guest stops being done by hand.

How we switch it on

One call, with your ARCA credentials at hand.

  1. 01

    Your property's details

Tax ID (CUIT), legal name and address. In ARCA you create a point of sale for software, used only for Factura T.

  2. 02

You delegate the service to us

In ARCA's relationship manager you give Andes the clase T invoicing service, as you would an accountant. The invoice is yours: your CUIT and your numbering.

  3. 03

    We test and you start

We issue the first invoice together in ARCA's test environment. Then the front desk has the form in its panel.

Questions

Questions and answers

What is a Factura T?

The clase T document ARCA created for lodging sold to foreign tourists. It shows the 21 % VAT and refunds it on the same invoice, so the guest pays the net. Decree 1043/2016 and General Resolution 3971.

Who can issue it?

A property registered for VAT (responsable inscripto) with lodging as an activity. A monotributista can't, because there's no VAT to refund. If your property is under monotributo, this program isn't for you and we'll say so beforehand.

Which guests get one?

Those who don't reside in Argentina and pay with a credit or debit card issued abroad, or a transfer from an account abroad. Cash or an Argentine card don't qualify.

What details are needed?

Name as in the passport, passport number (or foreign ID), country, city and address in their country, dates of the stay, amount, and how they paid: the first six digits of the card, or the account of origin for a transfer.

Can it be issued in dollars?

Yes. The invoice comes out in US dollars at the exchange rate ARCA publishes that day, and the rate is written on the invoice. In pesos too, of course.

What about breakfast and extras?

Breakfast is included if it's inside the lodging rate. Dinners, excursions, transfers or minibar go on a separate invoice, with the usual VAT.

Who invoices, the hotel or Andes?

The hotel, always. The invoice carries your CUIT, your point of sale and your numbering. Andes provides the program and signs in to ARCA because you delegated that service, like an accountant with your credentials.

Does my accountant see it?

Yes. Every invoice is recorded at ARCA with its CAE like any other, and the hotel's panel keeps the history. Before starting, your accountant should confirm you're enabled for clase T documents.

What if ARCA is down?

The invoice doesn't go out and the system tells you. If ARCA authorized it but the answer was lost, next time it recovers it with its number and CAE, without duplicating it.

Is it the same as tax free?

No. The VAT refund on purchased goods is a different regime, validated at the airport. The Factura T is only for lodging, and the benefit is on the invoice itself.

How much does it cost?

US$ 9 a month, launch price, no cost per invoice and no minimum term. All five programs together, US$ 49. ARCA doesn't charge for authorizing documents.

How is it switched on?

With your tax details, a point of sale for software and the delegation of the service in ARCA, which we do together with your credentials at hand. We test the first invoice in ARCA's test environment before going to production.

The other program

The day after check-out, a thank-you and a review.

After the stay writes to the guest who just left: thanks, the link to review you on Google and your direct rate to come back.
