Case · Moreno Explorer

Moreno Explorer: a website built from scratch, with its own creative direction.

Moreno Explorer runs boat trips to the Perito Moreno Glacier from El Calafate, through Canal de los Témpanos and Brazo Rico. It is operated by Fitz Roy Expediciones. They asked us for a website and there wasn't one: we set the creative direction with the Moreno Explorer team, then designed and built it from scratch. Today it's live, takes bookings through Turitop and brings in customers.

Starting point

No website, in a field full of templates.

  • There was no website. A new boat trip had to be introduced from zero.
  • Most tour websites in the area are built on generic templates: they look alike and say little about the place.
  • A glacier boat trip is bought ahead of time, mostly on a phone. The site had to explain the trip and let people book right there.
What we did

A site designed for this boat trip and no other.

  • Set the creative direction with the Moreno Explorer team, without looking at the competition.
  • Our own design, from scratch: there is no template underneath.
  • Turitop booking inside the page: date, departure time and passengers, without leaving the site.
  • An interactive map on real satellite imagery, with the boat's route marked from Puerto Moreno Explorer through Canal de los Témpanos and Brazo Rico. It opens full size.
  • Galleries of both faces of the glacier, departure times, what to bring and frequent questions.
  • Spanish and English, fast on a phone, with SEO from day one.
Why

Three decisions.

Not looking at the competition
If you start from what everyone else does, you end up with a site like everyone else's. We started from the glacier, the boat and what the trip feels like.
The route on a real map
"We sail both faces of the glacier" is easier to understand when you see it. On real satellite imagery, the route shows where the boat goes before anyone books.
Booking without leaving the site
Every jump to another page loses people. The Turitop calendar sits inside the page, next to the information about the trip.
Today

A live site that sells.

We asked ChatGPT to review the site: it gave it 9.5 out of 10 for design and singled out the creative direction.
